Gerald Edward Nelson (Jerry), was born 5 Apr 1942 in Denver, Colorado. He attended public schools in Denver, graduating from West High School in 1960. In college, he majored in electrical engineering. His first two years were spent at Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh. He then transferred to The University of Denver, graduating there with a BSEE degree in 1964. He married Dorothy Dabkowski (Dottie) on 20 June 1964 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Fort Logan, Colorado and after a memorable honeymoon at Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada they moved to Loveland, Colorado to begin raising their family. Jerry and Dottie were childhood sweethearts, meeting in 1958 when she was 15 and he was 16. They began going steady soon after meeting, but decided to wait until Jerry finished college before getting married. He worked for Hewlett-Packard Company in Loveland from 1964 to 1969 as an electronic design engineer, then as a product development manager in various positions until 1991. The family then moved to Utah, where Jerry worked for the Iomega Corporation from 1991-1993 as VP for Subsystem Development. He then attempted to start his own company, Eagle Solutions Inc., to develop and market backup tape drive systems, but the business ran out of cash before its revenue stream could become established. In 1995, Jerry then moved to Conception, Missouri to work for Conception Abbey as the Printery House General Manager, then Director of Computer Services. Dottie remained behind in Utah to allow their youngest daughter Margaret to finish high school. Then she joined Jerry in Missouri in 1997. Dorothy Dabkowski Nelson was born 19 Sept 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Catholic schools in Baltimore and moved with her parents to Denver, Colorado in 1952. She graduated from St Francis de Sales High School, Denver in 1961, then attended the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley for one year. Dottie then worked as a secretary at Martin-Marietta Corp in Denver until her marriage in 1964. After most children were raised, Dottie began work as a special education aide, helping children with learning disabilities. She worked first in Utah in 1994, then in Guilford, Missouri in 1997. While working, she returned to college at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, graduating with a BS in Special Education in 2006. She is currently the Special Education teacher at Barnard High School, Barnard, Missouri. Children:
